EcoEco – Double Glazed Window

SERVICE

Site Glazing

Site Access and Glazing Information:
Your Responsibilities.

To maintain an OH&S compliant work environment, where possible, product weight will be restricted to 60kg’s by leaving some (or all) of the glass out which will then require site glazing. This benefits all parties with the handling and installation of the product. The weight of each product is displayed in the Quote – Sales Offer, for your reference.

Where required, a site assessment will be conducted prior to site glazing.

A copy of the assessment will be provided to the builder, stating any site or equipment requirements; and whilst our preference is to manually glaze all products where safe to do so, should the hire of a crane or lifting apparatus be required, then the cost must be covered by the builder.

The builder is responsible for providing an OH&S compliant site, including appropriate scaffolding and where necessary, a crane for lifting glass, with all glazing performed from outside of the building. The site assessment will also consider site access widths and conditions with respect to tidiness and the terrain.

Preferential Wetting Patterns.

Large panels may be site glazed with manual or crane glass suction lifters and in rare instances, preferential wetting patterns may become apparent when the glass surface gets wet from rain, condensation or during washing. Whilst these tools leave no visible residue, they do change the surface condition, creating patterns that may show when the glass is wet.

Below is a guide from the Australian Glass & Windows Association (AGWA) on glass visual quality and page 5 references Preferential Wetting Patterns. Preferential Wetting Patterns are not considered a defect and they can be removed using a special buffing compound.
